Donna Olsen opened Beacon of Strength Mental Health Services in 2023 in Duluth, Minnesota.

As a single mother at 17, Donna spent her early adult life pouring all her energy and love into raising her two kids. It wasn’t until they graduated high school that she allowed herself to pursue her own passions and dreams of helping people. Donna began her journey as a chemical dependency counselor and ARMHS worker while enrolled in The College of Saint Scholastica where she eventually earned her MSW and began her work in therapy in 2017.

“I started my own therapy practice, because I wanted to be there for others the way my best friend was for me. I have dealt with childhood traumas well into my adult life and it wasn’t until I met my lifetime best friend that I was able to start healing. Thinking about where I started and how far I have come, I know that growth is possible for anyone with the correct tools. I want to provide a safe space for talented and compassionate therapist to be their best selves. Given the right environment and resources, we will have the best opportunity to achieve success in helping people heal and realize their full potential.”
